Main Purpose of the role

This role is to provide the business with a conduit for smooth transition of change. It is to lead improvement projects, optimising both efficiency and effectiveness of operational processes. The role should include; aid the introduction of new products into the manufacturing facility following the NPD process, creating and improving new manufacturing processes, meeting the needs of internal/external customers and supporting the Operations team with any bottlenecks found. The purpose of this role is to enable and facilitate the operations function to perform at its highest capability.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the manufacturing teams when process bottlenecks / issues arise for root cause identification and resolution.
  • To instruct, coach and develop team members (and the wider business) as required in the application of Lean Six Sigma principles.
  • To create and implement action plans for process improvement, in support of the business objectives (Efficiency & Effectiveness, Revenue, Capacity, Lead Times etc.)
  • To manage timelines and project plans to ensure project deadlines and milestones are met.
  • Responsible for the successful transfer of New Products into manufacturing, meeting set project objectives including scope, timeframe and costings.
  • To ensure all operational processes (procedures, work instructions, process maps etc.) adhere to Ishida’s quality standards.
  • To lead continuous improvement activities throughout the business.
  • Establish good working relationships with assembly, planning, logistics, purchasing, design and other key members of Operations.

 

What skills are we looking for?

To be successful in this role you will have the ability to manage safety risks within a working environment for themselves and others, have basic understanding of mechanical principles, able to communicate with leadership, prioritise workload in accordance with project demands, plan resource against schedule and manage resource dynamically with other Teams, be able to identify process waste, must have the ability to read technical drawings, consistently produce a high standard service, ability to work efficiently, health and safety awareness and have good knowledge of the equipment and tools. You must also be able to communicate well to all areas of the business and work well in a team environment, often proactively leading cross functional teams to achieve a common goal.

The right candidate will possess a good attention to detail, self-motivated, flexible and willing to learn and develop. You will be able to consistently achieve ‘Right First Time’ performance against cost and time scale targets. Previous experience in similar improvement activities is essential.
