What is the purpose of the role?

To co-ordinate timely production planning to ensure assembly of equipment / machinery is maintained to schedule in line with customer requirements to achieve high standards of on-time delivery.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update production schedule in line with latest production status
  • Review and expedite material shortages through the purchasing team and escalate issues where appropriate.
  • Co-ordinate material delivery to assembly teams from stores
  • Co-ordinate delivery of just in time (JIT) parts from supplier to assembly teams.
  • Provide fast resolution of shop floor issues arising from material shortages, quality defects and revision control issues.
  • Liaise closely with shop floor assembly teams, order coordinators, purchasing, suppliers, logistics and other key members of Operations Team to support high overall standards of customer service.
  • Liaise with subcontract suppliers to ensure any work is progressing in line with master schedule.
  • Arrange for repair or rework of damaged or faulty items.
  • Control and monitor production costs in real time to ensure all material transactions are properly accounted for and any returns are processed prior to production completion.
  • Liaise with sales to co-ordinate final shipping of machine to customer.
  • Communicate any changes to master schedule through the correct channels
  • Maintain and report on KPI’s on a monthly basis
  • Work with Production Planning and Purchasing on the timely consumption of Slow, Aged, and obsolete stock.
  • Minimize overstock and manage obsolete parts through revision control.
  • Increase stock turnover while not running out of stock on critical items.
  • Responsible for loading material forecast information.
  • Work with other planners on high-risk items.
  • Produce reports and provide routine management information on inventory performance.
  • Updating stock records and managing inventory needs.
  • Compiling inventory and usage reports when required.

 

What skills are we looking for?

To be successful in the role; you must have previous experience in a material planning, production planning or production control role within a manufacturing environment. You will have knowledge of demand planning & MRP / ERP expert, understand complex bill of material structures, with the ability to read technical drawings and you must possess strong IT skills.

You will have a high attention to detail, be a team player who has a passion to problem solve with a strong and organised work ethic and will be process driven.
