Main Purpose of the role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded fully qualified Accountant to join our Finance team. This role will be responsible for providing accurate financial reporting, insightful analysis, and robust support to the business, with a focus on driving performance, controlling costs, and enabling strategic decision-making.

 

Primary Responsibilities

The below list is comprehensive but not exhaustive. This role provides substantial exposure and involvement across diverse activities, and as the Finance Team remains relatively small, we are looking for proactive applicants who are ready and willing to get involved in all aspects of our work.

  • Manufacturing Division Accounting:
    • Perform accounting duties specific to the manufacturing division, including cost tracking, reconciliations, and inventory accounting.
    • Provide detailed financial analysis and commentary to support business performance reviews and decision-making.
    • Help ensure compliance with internal controls and financial procedures specific to manufacturing operations.
  • Performing balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Preparing and posting month end and other journals as required.
  • Providing analysis and reporting support to the finance team and wider business as required.
  • Conduct internal audits, produce clear reports with findings and recommendations, and support the implementation of process and control improvements
  • Assisting with the preparation of yearly consolidated financial statements.
  • Assisting with year-end and the external audit process.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
  • Helping ensure that financial control processes are understood and followed by non-finance teams, where appropriate.
  • Assisting with the continuous improvement of financial processes and systems.
  • Assisting with other ad-hoc tasks as required.

 

What skills are we looking for?

The ideal candidate must be educated to degree level or hold an AAT qualification (finalist or completed) and possess a recognised accountancy qualification such as CIMA or ACCA. You will be a highly motivated and detail-oriented finance professional with a strong foundation in accounting and financial management. With proven experience in preparing management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, you will demonstrate proficiency in Excel and be confident working with ERP/financial systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Netsuite. Your ability to deliver clear financial insights and partner effectively with the wider business will be essential.

To be successful in this role, you must have a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial controls, along with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. You should be capable of clearly communicating financial information to non-finance stakeholders and demonstrate strong organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines. Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and macros, are required, as is experience with month-end and year-end close processes and supporting internal and external audits.

Equally important are your personal qualities. You will demonstrate high integrity and professionalism, upholding strong ethical standards in all aspects of your work. A keen attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy are essential, as is an analytical mindset paired with a proactive, problem-solving approach. You must be an excellent communicator, able to clearly explain complex financial information to diverse audiences. The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team is vital. You should be adaptable and open to learning, thriving in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively will support your success, along with a forward-thinking attitude that seeks continuous improvement and ways to add value to the business.
